Aurora History and Community Information
Aurora Illinois - the "City of Lights" was founded in 1834 along the western banks of the Fox River - an important energy and water
source in the area. The area became a popular stay-over for wagons heading west from Chicago. Two brothers - Joseph and Samuel McCarty
traveling from New York were looking for a good spot to start a sawmill and the Aurora area met their needs. The City of Aurora was incorporated
